Head of Quality
Location: UK
We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Quality (QA & QC) to join our team. This position is responsible for developing, directing, and executing quality assurance and quality control programs across our products, supply chain, and operations to support the growth of the business and delivery of highest quality products.
The ideal candidate will be based in a major metropolitan area with close access to the airport and have experience with B2B sales of inventory-based products to large retailers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring a robust and phase appropriate Quality Management System (QMS) is in place to facilitate the design, development, and manufacturing of products.
- Collaborate with the Procurement and R&D teams through design and supply to ensure quality and consistency across our products and supply chain, carrying out in-house quality assurance checks on pre-production samples.
- Determine, define, and agree quality test procedures, standards and specifications to minimise design and functionality quality issues.
- Working with Compliance and R&D to ensure all aspects relating to compliance of our products are managed.
- Ensuring the presence of adequate Supplier Technical Agreements that foster and set up good communication with supplier Quality Departments to ensure agreement and clarity on service level expectations and responsibilities over quality standards. Monitor and report on performance against agreed targets.
- Auditing suppliers on quality of product, including onsite and offsite auditing.
- Analyse returned product trends and drive corrective action back through manufacturing, as necessary.
- Manage and lead on quality issues, managing the non-conformance process from identification through to resolution with effective management of stakeholders and communication.
- Undertake impartial investigations of opportunities for improvement and customer complaints.
- Manage and develop the quality team ensuring their effectiveness and professional growth.
- Engage staff with the QMS nurturing a positive culture of quality, including identifying staff skills gaps and appropriate training required.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years’ experience effectively and successfully leading a QA/QC function, with prior experience directly managing and developing a team.
- Experience with planning and implementing Quality Management System (QMS) and demonstrable experience using CAPA corrective and preventative action methodology.
- Experience working within a Global Supply chain and demonstrable experience with product life cycle management systems and injection molded and electronic components.
- Experience using structured data gathering, analysis, and reporting methodology.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience managing multiple stakeholders and communicating effectively at all levels.
- Outstanding attention to details with strong organisational skills.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PPT) to gather, analyse and present findings.
- Degree in engineering.
- Authorisation to work indefinitely in the UK without restrictions or sponsorship.
